It is longer than the i Phone but don't give up keep typing! THANK YOUWith Linksys router, you need to make sure that the settings on the "Wireless MAC Filter" tab are not preventing your i Phone from accessing the wireless network.
Also, I made sure I used the capitals and lowerclass just in case. As the password, I just used the WPA Shared Key (as I thought), but I needed to disable the Wireless MAC Filter for the i Phone to get access.ahhhh I was going round and round and round trying to figure why I couldn't connect an iphone to my wireless g router.
Then I re-entered my wifi network password password and I could connected again to safari and my e-mails straight away.

I also have an N router - iphone 4 won't work with N on 5ghz - this post reminded me i'd also set up mac filters! I had this problem with a new 3GS and a linksys WG54 router.
It seems that the Upgrade process in i Tunes has some variability. I wasn't even being offered the opportunity to enter one. I tried everything else but this is what did the trick for me. After racking my brain for several hours I ran across this.
After this is completed, test out your internet connection Thanks!
Do you have the same security setting, router name, and IP address on the router?
So I guess I will leave the IEEE 802.1x Authentication disabled then.
Thanks When you install the new DIR-655 router, you didn't copy the security setting from the old router.
